Why a Russian manicure costs more than a regular gel manicure

It takes about twice as long

A Russian manicure takes 1.5 to 2 hours, compared with 45 minutes to an hour for a typical gel manicure. You're paying for your tech's time, and the cuticle work and structure can't be rushed. We break down where the two hours go step by step.

It takes real training

E-file cuticle work is a skill that takes months to learn well and years to master. Our owner, Anastasia, trained in Russia and has more than 15 years of experience, and every newer tech at our studio trains with her one-on-one.

Better products and sterilization

Structured gels cost more than a basic gel polish, and every tool we use is sterilized in an autoclave and opened from a sealed pouch at your station.

Is it worth it? Do the math per week

A manicure's real cost is what you pay divided by how long it looks good. Our manicures are built to last three weeks or more, and most clients rebook every three to four weeks.

  • A $100 Russian manicure that lasts 3.5 weeks costs about $29 a week.

  • A $55 gel manicure that starts lifting after 10 days, and gets redone every two weeks, costs about $28 a week, plus nearly twice as many removals and trips to the salon.

The weekly cost ends up close. The difference is how your nails look in week three, and how healthy they are underneath.

How to compare Russian manicure prices around Denver

Russian manicures are offered at more salons every year, and prices vary a lot. When you compare, ask:

  • Is gel removal included? Some salons charge separately.

  • Is it structured gel or just gel polish? Structure is what makes a manicure last.

  • How long is the appointment? If it's under an hour, the cuticle work is probably limited.

  • How are tools sterilized? "Sanitized" and "sterilized" are not the same thing.

  • What does the tech's recent work look like? Look closely at the cuticle line in photos.
